Clinics

Long Term Conditions

If you have a long-term health condition, or are on certain medications, then it is important to have regular health checks with your doctor and nurse. We normally advise a check-up in the month of your birthday with a nurse, and a check-up 6 months later with a doctor to review your medications.

  • Asthma: All patients should be seen at least yearly – make an appointment with the nurse and bring along your inhalers.
  • Hypertension (high Blood Pressure):  Make an appointment with the nurse or health care assistant for 6 monthly Blood pressure checks.
  • Heart disease: Please make an appointment at least once a year with the nurse.
  • Diabetes: We like to see our Diabetic patients at least twice a year to help them manage their condition. Please make an appointment with the nurse.
  • Epilepsy: All patients should be seen at least yearly, but the doctor may ask you to come in more often to review your medication.
  • Contraception / HRT: For people on the oral contraceptive pill or HRT: Please organise a check-up at least 6 monthly with a nurse

Contraception

Contraception advice is available from the Doctors and Practice Nurses.

Contraceptive injections are available on-site, and coils and implants are available at local centres.  Please make an appointment with the Doctor or Nurse to discuss these options.

Here is a link to local clinics that provide contraception and sexual health advice. Some are walk-in, others require an appointment: https://www.gosexualhealth.co.uk/clinics.htm

Emergency Contraception

All women requiring emergency contraception will be offered an appointment with a GP, so they can be given a prescription within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse. In the event they cannot attend surgery the patient will be counselled over the telephone and a prescription will be prepared.

Emergency contraception is also available directly from most local and national chemists.

Click here for more information about the emergency contraceptive pill (the morning-after pill).

Minor Surgery

Dr Donovan performs minor surgical operations within Kelsall Medical Centre, and periodically performs cryotherapy at Tarporley Cottage Hospital. Please book in with Dr Donovan if you would like to discuss any problems that might need minor surgery with him.

Physiotherapy

Access to a physiotherapist could either be via a doctor referral following an appointment with them, or privately (please request a referral if needed, but sometimes a referral is not needed and you can simply organise an appointment yourself).

You can also use a new system called Physio First.

Physio First allows you to book in directly for a one-off appointment with an NHS physiotherapist without seeing a doctor first for a referral.

Please contact reception to make an appointment with Sian. Appointments are available here at Kelsall on Thursdays and Fridays.

You can follow this link for more information about Physio First

Travel Vaccinations

If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

Please contact the surgery to book a pre assesment travel vaccination telephone appointment with our Practice Nurse at least 8 weeks before you travel. This will be a 20 minute appointment per person. This will be followed by a further appointment for your vaccinations.

Non-NHS Services

Some services we offer fall outside of the NHS contract and therefore attract charges.
